Dolphins vs. Jaguars Preview

The Miami Dolphins’ first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a 10-7 win at Sun Life Stadium, has been well documented throughout the past week. Now, after a full five days of practice behind the team to make the necessary adjustments going into their second contest, what can Fins faithful expect to see on the field this weekend? One thing’s for sure; both fans and players and coaches alike are hoping that one element of last Saturday’s game is not present in this weekend’s contest – the rain!

Head Coach Tony Sparano broke down a little more in practice on Thursday what he would like to see in the game Saturday. First of all, you can expect to see more of the starters as well as a look at some more in-between guys, such as players who stood out in the first preseason game against Tampa Bay, like Nate Ness, Nolan Carroll, Marlon Moore and Roberto Wallace. In Sparano’s words: “There are chances in this second preseason game there would be more guys that would not play, and a few other guys that you would need to increase because you just lost reps.”

Who can you expect to see more of, in addition to the guys listed above? How about Chad Henne? The quarterback played only four series before he was pulled in last weekend’s preseason opener, but this time, Sparano wants to see him in the game for probably what will amount to the whole first half. The head coach has a certain number of plays he wants to see from Henne, and depending on how fast he meets that quota (and how successful he is), he will adjust the game plan accordingly.

Other players you can expect to see on the field more include Jared Odrick and Koa Misi, both of whom have been delegated as starters for Miami in their rookie campaigns, along with Chris Clemons, who has apparently won the starting free safety job, and Joe Berger, who has been unofficially crowned as the starting center.

While the starting jobs are starting to be solidified and with training camp officially coming to a close on Thursday, the Dolphins are starting to shift their gears towards getting things in tune for the regular season. There are plenty more questions to be answered, but with each day, more and more of them are getting answered. Which leaves us with only one question for you – are you ready for the Fins to take the field, and do you have your tickets in hand to support them on their quest to make it to Super Bowl 2011?
