Open Spots Remain on the Active Roster
Thanks for visiting MiamiDolphinsTickets.com, your best source for Dolphins coverage, Dolphins ticket packages, Dolphins VIP tickets, Miami Dolphins road trip packages and much more! With only a couple more weeks before the Fins open up the first game of the 2010 regular season, time is limited for you to see the team open up the year either at home or on the road, so act now to get the best seats available for the game – or games – of your choice!
As we mentioned, time is running out for you to get your Miami Dolphins tickets, but that also means time is running out for Head Coach Tony Sparano to figure out his active roster – and that means position battles are heating up. We know some are already solidified, such as Brandon Marshall and Brian Hartline as the first-team receivers, Chad Henne as the quarterback – but what about some of the positions that are still up in the air?
For example, at the linebacker position, three of the four inside linebacker positions are accounted for with Karlos Dansby, Channing Crowder and Tim Dobbins, but a fourth player is up in the air. At the outside linebacker position, Koa Misi and Cameron Wake have secured their positions, while the other jobs will come down to Charlie Anderson, Ikaika Alama-Francis, Erik Walden, Chris McCoy and Quentin Moses. The only thing to note here is that both Crowder and Moses have continued to sit out of practice this week with undisclosed injuries, and both look in doubt to play Friday against the Falcons.
The most heated of battles, however, continues to be who will play in front of Henne this season at center – Jake Grove and Joe Berger. When Grove was out with an injury last year, Berger filled in for the final six weeks of the season and did a valiant job. Grove has opened practice this week with the first team for several consecutive days, but this is one position that is undoubtedly keeping Sparano up at night and likely will come down to a last-minute decision (he wanted to have it solidified by the Jags game last weekend, but that didn’t happen).
Sparano also recently noted to the media at practice that the third preseason game Friday against the Falcons is one in which teams take note and is often a time where roster spots can be won – or lost. No pressure.
In other news, veteran guard Randy Thomas was waived last week after sustaining an injury; and, in the most ironic news of the week, reserve guard Ray Feinga sat out practice Wednesday with, of all things, an injury to his feinga – I mean finger.
