Dolphins vs. Buffalo Preview
Miami-Buffalo All-Time Series Record: 55-39-1Last Meeting: Miami won, 35-8, on November 20, 2011 at Miami
The Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills met only a few short weeks ago, but much has happened since these two squads faced each other on the field in a game that went in Miami’s favor, 35-8, back on Nov. 20. For starters, Miami has a new coach on the sideline, as Tony Sparano was relieved of his head coaching duties this week after last Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. On the other side, Buffalo is entrenched in a seven-game losing streak, which might look familiar to Miami fans – you may remember that the Dolphins opened the season by losing seven games of their own; since then, however, they are 4-2.
The 2011 NFL season is winding down, and with only three games to go in the regular season, it is crunch time for the Miami Dolphins. While the squad may be out of the playoff hunt, each and every player on the squad is essentially still trying out for next year’s squad in these final three games, especially since interim head coach Todd Bowles is not expected to be retained as the head honcho once the 2011 season wraps up. And while this game may be on the road, did you know that you can still get tickets to see it in person, or that you can finish up your holiday shopping with tickets to the Fins’ final two games? The good news for Fins fans heading into the game is that Matt Moore is expected to start Sunday – this coming only one day after the team was doubtful that he would be cleared due to concussion-like symptoms. Left tackle Jake Long was back at practice too, which is great news for an offensive line that gave up a franchise-high-tying nine sacks last week.
Miami fans should also look for Reggie Bush to possibly have his third game in a row with 100+ yards, as the Bills’ defensive line hasn’t been particularly effective in stopping the run this season, giving up 4.7 yards per attempt. On the flip side, however, Buffalo also likes to pound the football, and they have been fairly successful at doing so. Miami’s rush defense has been pretty spectacular in stopping the run, however, and if they can limit Buffalo like they did in their first meeting (41 total yards), then they have a good shot at getting their second victory against the Bills this season.
