Mid-Week Dolphins Notes
There is plenty going on around this Miami Dolphins team right now – not only did they have their first practice under a new head coach, Todd Bowles, but they are also dealing with some pretty significant injuries while also trying to figure out how to re-group before this Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins will be seeking to sweep the season series with the Bills when they travel to Ralph Wilson Stadium this Sunday. Fins fans might remember that Miami’s first matchup with Buffalo on Nov. 20 was arguably their best game this season, so the Dolphins will try to replicate that game and get back in the winning column in this road contest. Looking ahead to the game, here are a few mid-week notes from the Miami Dolphins, including injury updates and a quick snapshot on running back Reggie Bush.
• It’s not exactly a great year to be a quarterback in the Miami Dolphins system. Not only did Chad Henne go down at the beginning of the season with an injury, but now it looks like his replacement, Matt Moore, might also miss the Buffalo game this weekend after having to leave the game last Sunday due to a hit he took late in the third quarter. Tests are still pending, but Moore did not practice Wednesday due to concussion-like symptoms, which isn’t a good early indicator for this weekend. If Moore isn’t ready to go, J.P. Losman is expected make the start, even though he and Pat Devlin shared first-team snaps in practice on Wednesday.
• Jake Long and Koa Misi also didn’t practice Wednesday – you may recall that after Long left the game with a back injury in the first quarter, the Fins gave up nine sacks, which tied a franchise high. After yielding three of those sacks last Sunday, it looks like Nate Garner won’t replace Long should he not be available against the Bills – look for John Jerry to take over that responsibility.
• Lost in the scuttle of the week is the fact that Reggie Bush had yet another dominating performance over the weekend. Bush hit the 100-yard mark for the second game in a row and the third time this season on Sunday vs. Philadelphia. He now has 770 rushing yards on the season, which is a career high, and with three games left, he can feasibly eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the first time.
